John Chapman designed the showroom whilst director of Kajima Design [2000 - 2007]
The training centre and showroom is situated in a dockland area of Amsterdam. The showcase to the assembly plant, the training building, houses a number of activities including the showroom, theoretical and practical training areas and workshop, sales administration and an auditorium. The accommodation is orientated and organised to maximise views and north light whilst minimising solar gain.
The journey through the building concludes in the auditorium overlooking a choreographed performance by the digger in a sculpted mire, the assembly plant beyond as the backdrop to the theatre.
